How We Got Started This Organization is the product of unfortunate events and interesting timing. Civility Shines founder, Louis Peerless, endured a myriad of critical medical events. Peerless nearly lost his life to sepsis but was fortunate to have physicians who diligently chose the best antibiotics and he survived. Shortly after learning that he had prevailed over his infection, Peerless realized that he would be unable to continue his consulting work in commercial real estate and called clients to refer them to the most appropriate competitor. With a second chance at life, he determined that he could and should make a difference for the greater good. His bookCivility Shines: "It's Easier to Get Along!" and this program is the result of four years' work towards that end. Peerless wrote, Civility Shines: "It's Easier to Get Along!", a handbook on Civility and Civil Behavior. From that, the notion of an organization where peoples' needs could be ameliorated by the hands of others came to fruition. The foundation of Civility Clubs, choosing civility and highlighting community involvement and random kindness, is encouraged. Embracing "It's Easier to Get Along!" into our lives can only be a positive decision for us as individuals to live out own lives and likewise influence our families, co-workers, acquaintances and friends. Our Book and Program Civility Shines: "It's Easier to Get Along!" is a handbook on civility and civil behavior. An introduction is followed by 46 'Vignettes' and suggestions on appropriate responses. The premise of the book is that it is easier to get along and that life with a cooperative reality is a better, more pleasant way to spend our daily lives. Civility Shines: "It's Easier to Get Along!" was written for students, not as part of a curriculum, but as a handout to supplement the students' education. We hope that the books are read by students and its messages absorbed. In a best case scenario, the book goes home, providing numerous topics for family discussion. We advocate choosing civility and civil behavior in every aspect of life. Civility Clubs, community clubs based in schools and congregations, are proposed with students and their parents performing scheduled deeds of assistance as well as random kindness, a critical component of of civility. We also advocate that a poster, shown elsewhere on the website, be placed in as many libraries, school offices and other selected venues across the United States and beyond. How Can You Get Involved? We are raising funds at GoFundMe.com Civility Shines Funds will be used to purchase additional books for distribution to schools, Clergy, and other selected recipients. These books will be purchased from the Publisher at cost (I will receive no royalties). Presently our subscribers are in Greater Cincinnati, Ohio. Generally, our subscribers are people who embrace civility and random kindness as away of life. If our work and the activities we suggest are of interest, we'll increase our ranks. Ultimately, we will get subscribers by word of mouth as the word gets out that there is an organization that promotes civility and civil behavior. As you are reading this, we'll assume your interest and suggest a contribution. Your gift will allow us to expand our reach substantially. Increased subscribership will allow us to continue to produce educational materials for schools and congregations. Those subscribers contributing $250.00 or more will receive a 10% discount in Our Store, for life! Our Mission Civility Shines is a business with a single purpose: We will bring issues of civility and civil behavior to the general public through Civility Shines!: “It’s Easier to Get Along!” (the book, authored by Louis Peerless, published in March 2017 Available on Amazon). This is a handbook that covers general issues of civility, including 46 vignettes, situations in which we find ourselves, on thinki
