established Benco Dental in a 2,500-square-foot office on the fifth floor of the Miner's Bank Building in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.
In 1959, Benjamin's son, Lawrence, joined Benco Dental. Ten years later, in 1968, the company's growth spurred a move to a larger site at 10 Hill St. in Wilkes-Barre. It was there that Benco Dental persevered through one of the nation's worst natural disasters, surviving and recovering from flooding during the devastating Hurricane Agnes in 1972. Not long after the flood, in 1980, Benco Dental moved once again to a new home on Bear Creek Blvd. in Wilkes-Barre Township in an effort to avoid the valley flood plain.
