FOD is a safety term given to two related concepts Foreign Object Debris and Foreign Object Damage. Foreign object debris is any debris or any foreign material which includes people also within the aerospace environment that can cause any damage to equipment or aircraft. Foreign object damage is any damage caused by any foreign debris. These FOD needs to be controlled otherwise they can cause risk to the lives of people at the airport also. Many FOD prevention programs and tools have been started to avoid any mis happenings in the aerospace and aviation sectors. These programs mainly focus on training, maintenance, coordination, and inspection.
