After getting out of the Navy, I worked at Nolan Power Group as an industrial electrician servicing the major chemical plants all over Texas and Louisiana. While working at Nolan Power Group I bought several rental properties as real estate investments.

When I started off in real estate investing in 2015 I had no intention of learning how to become a general contractor. I needed to hire a contractor to remodel my first property so I could rent it out. This was a very frustrating experience. Most of them wouldn’t return my calls and the ones who did would schedule meetings and then not show up. When I finally was able to get someone to give me a quote, it was incredibly overpriced. I had over ten years of experience dealing with subcontractors in both the Navy and as an industrial electrician. I knew that I could do better.

So I decided to become my own general contractor. It wasn’t easy, and I learned a lot of lessons along the way, but it didn’t take long to start getting the hang of it. After two years, I began offering my services to homeowners in the Houston area and I’ve been at it ever since.
