General

Mehran Metal Containers (pvt) Limited (MMCL) was incorporated in 1990 as a private limited company. The head office of the company is located in Korangi Industrial Area Karachi.

Operations

The company has enjoyed prolific growth since its inception and has grown into the largest drum and Jerry Can manufacturing company in Pakistan with a diverse product range, multiple product lines and varied customers.

Initially the company catered exclusively to the steel drum requirements of national refinery limited and consistently manufactured and supplied bitumen drums to the tune of one million drums per year. Over the years our production our production capacity has been continually expanded and diversified to cater to the increasing demand of the lubricant and chemical manufacturing concerns. We have also started to cater to various auto manufacturing companies, to engineering companies and to the Pakistan army. A list of our clients is appended as annexure 1.

Product range and services offered

Bitumen and oil drums of 25, 50, 100, and 210-litre capacity in various gauges both lacquered (epoxy phenollic) and unlacquered. The total production capacity of our company is in excess of 6000 bitumen drums or 1000 lacquered oil drums (210 litre) per day.

Reinforced drums for storage and transport of hazardous chemicals with thicker sheets, support rings and welded rims.

Management and structure

The overall management of the company rests with its board of directors. The company presently employs more than 125 people, which include engineers, technicians and labor.

Important milestones in our company history

1990

Company incorporated with the aim to provide bitumen drums to national refinery limited.

1993

Procurement of an additional drum production line for manufacturing of 210-liter oil drums to serve customers from oil and chemical industry.

1996

Started supplying 210-liter steel drums to Pakistan army.

Started manufacturing epoxy-coated drums.

2000

Established a steel jerry can manufacturing unit.

Established a pre treatment facility.

2002

Established a 100 kva transformer tank fabrication facility for supply to Siemens.

Added additional equipment to manufacture 10 and 15 kva tanks.

Added new dies and equipment for manufacturing of 50 kva tanks.

2004

Established a leaf spring manufacturing facility.

Acquired new paint shop.

Added further fixtures for manufacturing of 200 kva tanks

2005

Established a steel tower fabrication bay.

Setup hot dip galvanizing plant.

Setup powder coating facility.

Developed ERP information system.

2006

Established a lpg manufacturing facility.

Acquired ISO 9001 certification.

Developed and implemented crm system.

Established a die designing and R D facility.

2007

Developed new tooling and dies for the manufacturing of 5 10 Liter Steel Jerry cans.

Established a new powder paint setup.

2009

Acquired a manufacturing plant based in the United Arab Emirates for the production of plastic bottles and jerry cans
