As a pioneer in her field, Myra Herman turned her love of teaching children to working with adults in 1990 when she saw a clear need and definite lack of computer software training. She found people were really struggling with the conversion from manual typewriters to electronic media and were expected to do the same amount of work with the new systems as they had with typewriters, so she and her husband struck out in 1991 with Softeach Training. In addition to having a location in the Saskatoon downtown area, they provided training from a variety of locations including everything from country elevators to community learning centres, going wherever the need existed. After Softeach was sold: she offered her contracted services to MicroAge Computer Training where she was their principal trainer for 10 Years. She has a wide range of companies and individuals who value her training skills. In addition to training, she has also offered her services as a consultant for Access Database development and troubleshooting problems for clients who needed her expertise with software.
Although the focus over the years has changed from WordPerfect and Lotus to Microsoft Office applications, web design, programming and publishing, Myra has always more than kept ahead of demand. As a Microsoft Master Instructor in two Office suites, Myra was invited to join the Microsoft IC3 Curriculum Development team which developed the online training that is offered by Microsoft today.
She continues her service to Saskatoon and area with the evolution of her company, establishing the
MJH Computer Training Centre as the natural step to an extremely rewarding career thus far. She brings her usual abundance of skill, experience and commitment to this as she has to every project she has been involved with. She offers a wide range of 1 and 2 day computer workshops and she sends out a warm invitation to her many former clients as well as any new clients. Having something to offer the novice as well as the professional and everyone in between, she presents her knowledge with the uncanny skill of putting everyone at ease and wanting more!
“I have always strived to relate to people’s level and industry so that I can make the class as relevant as possible and as understandable as possible. I avoid “computer jargon” and use illustrations that are found in every day situations.”
