Headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts, Mobilaurus was co-founded in 2009 by Northeastern University professor and serial entrepreneur Simon Dao and one of his ambitious graduate students, Chris Kombouras.

Mobilaurus was born in response to the direct demand for mobile ordering and mobile ticketing solutions as the popularity of "smartphones" spread exponentially. Entrepreneurs at heart, Mobilaurus' co-founders sought a way to help businesses go mobile and differentiate their company from other custom smartphone application developers. The introduction of transactable ads based on preferences and geographic location, coupled with social media integration and support for a variety of mobile platforms - Iphone, Android, and Blackberry - sealed the deal.
