I provide web site design, installation and support. My sites are built using either HTML coding, off-the-shelf website templates, or the versatile WordPress platform.

I began designing websites approximately 17 years ago when I built a site for my own housewares company. The first site was designed using Microsoft Publisher which produced a very basic website and so, dissatisfied with my first attempt, I enrolled for a course in website design at a local college. Back then web site design was a labour of love, using basic HTML and Javascript; the client had very little control of the finished site unless they had at least a basic knowledge of the coding.

Today there are many more opportunities for the client to be involved in updating their site once the installation is completed. There are a host of ready made templates and site management has been simplified even more with CMS; my own site is based on a Content Management System – a WordPress platform which allows the client to manage the site content using the WordPress Dashboard. The resulting website can be as complicated or as simple as the client requires.

These sites are designed and built on the WordPress platform. Affordable websites with a choice of beautiful themes - from a simple one page site to a multi-page E-commerce site. The WordPress platform is the bones of the site and can be fleshed out using the numerous plugins available; for shopping carts; site security; SEO; and many more features. I also offer one-to-one tutorials, within a five mile radius of Grantham, for anyone who would like to improve their basic computer skills. I welcome newcomers to this increasingly technical world and do not believe that age should be a barrier; my tutorials are aimed at the over 50′s, but not exclusively, and I am happy to help if you are struggling with emails; word processing; or spreadsheets. As little or as much as you like; just a few hours tuition can make the difference.

I am now officially retired from the world of retail but this gives me the opportunity to indulge in my passion for web site design and all things technical. I have helped many friends with the daunting task of taming their computers, sending emails and getting to grips with browsing the internet. Silver Surfers are coming into their own and I intend to be out there with them.
