St. James is a leader in innovation and a major force in mid-stream stevedoring on the Mississippi River. With six midstream buoy locations between the New Orleans Airport and the Sunshine Bridge, St. James operations overlay the primary dry bulk loading areas putting you at the nexus of blue water and inland river transportation services for the Mississippi River.

In 2011 St. James added two more Gottwald cranes to the fleet. This brings the number of these high capacity, technologically advanced cranes to eight thereby maintaining the highest concentration of these types of cranes of anyone in the world. The two new editions are Series 8 versions which are 39% more productive than their older siblings and utilize 61 yard buckets for coal, fertilizer and other dry bulk commodities.

St. James has been nominated and are finalists for two IBJ Awards. The categories nominated for are Best Specialist Dry Bulk Port or Terminal and also the Innovative Technology Award.
